Dr. Meier joined the JDAH family in June, 2013. He grew up with a passion for helping animals and regularly visited Dr. Dupree with his family’s pets. After graduating Loyola College Prep, he attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston to study animal science. He gained early admission into veterinary school at St. George’s University on the Caribbean island of Grenada. He finished three years of course work and pre-clinical studies before completing his last year of clinical training at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, La. While attending his clinical year, he focused on Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Ultrasound and Dermatology. Following graduation from St. George’s University in 2013, he began his career at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital.
Dr. Meier and his wife Amanda met while at Louisiana Tech. While attending veterinary school in the Caribbean, they learned to scuba dive, sail and deep-sea fish. They also adopted their dog Reagan, a Doberman-Lab mix, while on the island and brought her back to Louisiana. In addition to Reagan, they have two little boys Grayson who is 3, and Sutton who is 6 months. Dr. Meier enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
